Comfortable twin room with 2 double beds, great amenities, and an extra double-bed 😊. Conveniently located within walking distance of a beautiful Friday mosque from the Ottoman era.

The owner and the staff were great and especially friendly! Free tea and water any time.
A bit narrow rooms, but good for that price.

The staff at the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our stay. They were always ready to assist us and spoke English fluently. the hotel's location was fantastic, with key attractions such as Hagia Sophia just a short walk away. This made it convenient for us to explore the city without having to travel far. Lastly, we appreciated the complimentary Turkish tea, coffee, and water available at any time, which was a nice touch.
The rooms at the hotel were much smaller than what was depicted in the pictures online. This may not have been an issue for us, but for a couple with a baby and strollers, it became quite cramped.

The service was good. The staff and management were helpful and we felt like a family home. Value for money.
Rooms and toilet could have been a bit more spacious.

over a ten week trip in turkey, the balkans and the caucusus, i was in instanbul three times. each time i stayed in this same neighborhood. family istanbul, like all the other hotels in the hood, has a dynamite, super location, at the edge of sultanahmet. in addition, the absolute gem of the little aya sophia, built by justinian and theodora, is just around the corner from family istanbul. it should not be missed as it is the most complete, most original and the most beautiful byzantine structure church i have ever seen. its conversion to a mosque is remarkably unobtrusive. it is superb! family istanbul was the lowest priced of the three hotels at which i stayed in this neighborhood. i in terms of ranking, i would put in the middle of the three, better than the least desirable, not as nice, by far, of the best of the three. with family istanbul the real pluses are location and price.
the name in quite misleading as there property is not run by a family. owned by a young business man and staffed by a crew young men who work long hours, it is a budget hotel. breakfast was a minimal turkish breakfast buffet. these buffets always have the same five basic items. what makes one better than another is what is on offer beyond the basics. family istanbul is at the very basic end of the breakfast buffet spectrum, low quality cheese, no hard boiled eggs. breakast is acceptable and in keeping with overall tone of the property, basic, cheap, acceptable.
